After a three-year development journey together, Didriksons now launches its first collection made with EcoLactam®. This innovative polyamide material has up to 70% lower carbon footprint compared to conventional nylon.
The journey began with a single jacket. In 2024, Didriksons introduced the pilot project CXI, the first jacket ever made using EcoLactam®. The project proved that innovation, transparency and collaboration across the entire value chain can create real impact.
Now, the Swedish jacket brand is taking the next step. This launch lays the foundation for a broader rollout. From spring/summer 2026, EcoLactam® will be introduced in some of Didriksons’ most commercial and volume-driving products, with further scale-up planned for autumn/winter 2026.
From pilot to large-scale innovation
EcoLactam® is a low-impact nylon developed by Fibrant, a global leader in responsible nylon innovation. Thanks to groundbreaking and patented production processes, EcoLactam® is designed to drastically reduce greenhouse-gas emissions.
Didriksons has worked for several years to transform the CXI pilot into commercial and scalable applications. The collaboration with EcoLactam® has focused on traceability, process optimisation and extensive testing to ensure that larger production maintains both the environmental benefits and the high performance required for technical outerwear.
“This has been a great collaboration built on shared goals and mutual trust. We started small, with one jacket, and are now scaling up step by step. In 2026, we will apply EcoLactam® to some of our most commercial and volume-driving styles, allowing us to actually make a real impact”
Per Odqvist, Chief Sourcing Officer at Didriksons.
Shared ambition for change
This partnership has been driven by a shared ambition to create meaningful change and move the textile industry forward through innovation and transparency.
“Collaborating with Didriksons has been a truly inspiring process. From the first pilot to this wider launch, we have shared the same vision to make responsible materials accessible on a larger scale"
Paul Habets, Director of Sales and Marketing at Fibrant.
A new standard for performance and responsibility
With EcoLactam®, Didriksons continues to combine durability with reduced environmental impact. EcoLactam® fabrics now also feature a high-performance laminate that delivers 15,000 mm water-column protection according to international ISO standards, ensuring weather protection without compromise.
This launch marks the start of a new chapter for Didriksons and a commitment to scale innovation responsibly, without losing sight of quality, function or design.
“It’s not about one innovation. It’s about changing the way we make products. Together with partners like EcoLactam®, we can move our entire industry forward”, concludes Per Odqvist.
